The airport closest to Coral Sea Marina is the Whitsunday Coast Airport (also known as Proserpine Airport, code ‘PPP’).

Airlines that generally fly into Proserpine include:

• Jetstar, direct from Melbourne and Brisbane to Proserpine
• Virgin Australia, direct from Brisbane, and connecting via other cities, to Proserpine

It is about a 40 minute trip by taxi or bus to our charter base in Airlie Beach.

If you are arriving into Hamilton Island Airport, you can catch a ferry with Cruise Whitsundays to the Port of Airlie Marina and then a taxi to our charter base from there. The ferry takes about an hour but this option can add about 2 hours to your arrival time.

By Ferry

Cruise Whitsunday is the one and only ferry service that meets all flights to and from Hamilton Island. Cruise Whitsunday currently run regular services to:

• Port of Airlie – it is a 5 minute taxi ride from the ferry terminal to our office at Coral Sea Marina.
• Shute Harbour – you will need to organise a taxi or bus transfer from Shute Harbour to our office. It is 15km away, and around a 20 minute drive.

Travelling the east coast of Australia can be a unique experience and takes some planning and consideration. Queensland is a large state and the drive to Airlie Beach takes on average:

• From Brisbane 12hrs (non stop), 1100km
• From Cairns 7hrs (non stop), 630km

If you drive, there are two car parking options:

• Open air pay-and-display car park at the South Village of Coral Sea Marina (walking distance) – more info here.
• Offsite undercover secure car parking – bookings must be made directly.

By Bus

All major bus companies service Airlie Beach and offer a convenient service for travellers.

By Rail

Queensland Rail stops at Proserpine train station on the Whitsunday Coast. You can also book your shuttle bus or taxi transfer from the train station to our charter base with Queensland Rail.

We have many pensioners taking advantage of their free train fare to visit the Whitsundays.
