Go Bareboating in the Whitsundays

Have you always wanted to go bareboating in the famous Whitsunday Islands of Australia?

We think 2016 is your year! The American dollar is providing excellent value for holidays abroad, and Australia is rolling out the welcome mat. How about a sailing vacation you will never forget?

Warm weather all year round

Water-and-feet-300Not only does the Whitsundays experience warm weather to go bareboating all year round, but the time when most Americans travel overseas is actually a fabulous time to be in the Whitsundays.

The long US summer school holidays coincide with some of the best weather to go bareboating in the Whitsundays. Being in the tropics of Queensland, the Whitsundays experiences very mild winters, with the water still warm enough to swim and snorkel the Great Barrier Reef. It’s like perpetual springtime down here!

Whale season

The-Great-Barrier-Reef-Whales-and-Dolphins-on-the-Great-Barrier-Reef-797x533Not only is it a great time to go bareboating, it’s also a great time for whale watching. Whales travel up and down the Australian coast seeking warm waters. The warm waters of the Whitsundays are the perfect spot for whale watching between June and September. Humpback whales are the most frequently seen species, but other types are known to visit the area too. Even Migaloo and Chalkie the white whales have been known to cruise through the Whitsunday islands!

The best way to see whales is from the deck of your very own bareboat. Maintain a safe distance, and enjoy this marvel of nature. Often whales will surprise you and pop up right near your boat! They can be as curious about us as we are about them.

I can’t sail, can I still go bareboating?

Venturer-38-power-catamaran-Whitsunday-Escape-sunset-800x533If you have a little bit of boating experience, then the answer is yes! You don’t need to have a licence to go bareboating. You don’t even need sailing experience. There are plenty of power boats available to go bareboating on, and many sailing boats can be used under motor alone, widening the selection you can choose from enormously.

We don’t let you go out alone without a comprehensive briefing first. The bareboat briefing can take 3-4 hours depending on your level of experience and knowledge of the area.

We can also send one our our qualified staff with you for an extra session if you are little unsure, or somewhat inexperienced. This extra “sail guide” session is tailored to teach you exactly what you need, and ensure you can set off in confidence for a safe and enjoyable bareboating experience.

Not like the Caribbean or Mediterranean

120892029618-Hamilton-IslandThe Whitsundays is unique as a destination to go bareboating, in that it is almost all National Park. You are sailing within the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, and of the 74 islands, only a handful have resorts on them. The majority are uninhabited, deserted islands! This might be one of the reasons Johnny Depp and the Pirates of the Caribbean production team chose the Whitsundays for filming scenes in the next instalment of the Pirates franchise in 2015.

Another benefit is that going bareboating in the Whitsundays is really safe. We take great care of you from booking to departure. We know so many people have never been bareboating before and we want to make sure you love it! While you are out bareboating, we are available by radio or phone at all times to offer you advice, the current weather forecast, and give you tips and local knowledge to ensure you have the best holiday ever.

Is this your year to go bareboating?

If you liked the sound of any of this, then yes! We’d love to welcome you to the Whitsundays for the best vacation of your life. Let us talk you through it.
