What is bareboating?

Bareboating is when you hire a boat and take it cruising yourself, sometimes referred to as a ‘skipper yourself’ charter. It is called ‘bare’ because it doesn’t come with a skipper or crew as you get to do this yourself, and you drive the boat yourselves, wherever you want to go.

You get the freedom to cruise the Whitsunday Islands at your own pace and choose your own adventure each day!

Unlike most holidays, you wont need your wallet once you leave. The charter provides accommodation, transport between the islands and all of your tours in one.

Before you depart you will go through a comprehensive briefing including:

  • The cruising area around the Whitsunday Islands,
  • The operating and safety features of the boat you have hired.

No formal boating qualifications or licenses are required to charter with Whitsunday Escape. Some boating knowledge and experience is all it takes!
